Meet the Team

Sam Dicks our founder, is the heart of our community. Passionate about craftsmanship and customer service, Sam is dedicated to bringing your campervan dreams to life. Whether you need advice, have questions, or just want to chat about your next adventure, he’s always happy to help.

An ultra marathon runner and keen mountaineer, having summited many 4000m peaks, Sam makes the most of his own campervan whenever he can, heading off on adventures with his family and their two much-loved dogs, Hank and Willow, and bringing that same lifestyle and real-world experience into every build that leaves the workshop.

Kevin is our Sales and Operations Manager and will be your point of contact throughout your journey here at Hide Away Campervans. He is highly skilled in handling enquiries and has strong knowledge across servicing and maintenance, helping guide customers through each stage with clear and practical advice.

In his spare time, Kevin is a keen triathlete and devoted owner to Kona, his much-loved dog who regularly visits the workshop. He enjoys adventure, snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, and training whenever he can.

Paula is an essential part of our office team, managing accounts with precision while keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes. As Sam’s mum, she brings a warm, family touch to the business. If no one from sales is available, Paula is always happy to take a message, ensuring we get back to you as soon as possible.

In her spare time, she loves heading away in her motorhome, especially exploring Europe with winter trips to the Alps and summer adventures to the Dolomites. She’s always looking for somewhere new to discover. At home, she enjoys long walks and spending time looking after Hank and Willow.

Wayne, our senior mechanic and fitter, brings over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry. Here, he’s expertly installing stage one soundproofing for one of our lining conversions, ensuring every van is warm, comfortable, and built to the highest standards.

In his spare time, Wayne loves restoring old cars to a high standard and enjoys fixing and making just about anything. He has a fully kitted workshop at home, complete with a powder coating oven, where he spends much of his free time working on projects. Above all, he’s a devoted family man and is always willing to lend a hand to those in need.

Alex, is one of our workshop technicians, bringing a strong background in both carpentry and electrical work. His experience across multiple trades allows him to approach each build with a practical, well-rounded skillset, ensuring a high standard of finish throughout.

Outside of the workshop, Alex is just as passionate about campervans. He has built his own van and regularly travels across the UK and Europe, making the most of van life firsthand. When he’s not away exploring, he enjoys spending time at home with his wife and their Shar Pei, Ruffles.

Jake, is one of our part-time technicians, working with us throughout the year to build his experience within the campervan conversion industry. As Sam’s brother, he’s grown up around the business and has developed a natural interest in the trade.

He thrives in the workshop and has a particular interest in electrical work, where he continues to build his skills. Jake is always keen to get involved, learn, and support the team wherever needed.

Outside of work, Jake enjoys rock climbing, both indoors and outdoors, and is a talented musician. He keeps himself fit through regular training and running, and often joins Sam on mountaineering trips around the world.

Hank & Willow our beloved workshop dogs—super friendly and always ready to greet you with a wagging tail and a big smile. When he’s not saying hello, you’ll find him snoozing on anything soft or out exploring the fields. He’s an essential part of the team, bringing warmth and joy to everyone who visits!

Had some work done on my VW transporter recently and extremely pleased with what’s been done. The work has been done to a very high standard and it’s made a huge difference to the van.

Sam and his team show amazing attention to detail, are meticulous about recording their work and clearly proud of the high standards of their work. I wish I had started with a new conversion done by them ! They installed solar, diesel heater and RIB bed as well as sorting out both the gas and electric installation in my T6.1 which had been installed very poorly. Highly recommended for really top notch service.

Great service as always from Hideaway!

I took campervan into Hideaway as i was having trouble with starting the van on cold morning which they diagnosed as being an issue with the battery which they replaced and solved the issue.

I had my van converted by Hideaway just over 2 years ago now and still absolutely love it!

I found Hideaway online and with three quotes I collected for a Rib camper bed install they came back the most reasonable and professional. Within three weeks I had the van in for the job and they were courteous on my arrival, gave me an office area to work whilst I waited and they got to work. As with all campervans there is the unique nuances of fitting in with what’s there. A few problems were encountered but at every stage they explained to me their recommended solution and why and gave me the autonomy to make the decision. We got the bed in with just a mornings work and it was fantastic. They moved my control panels to accommodate the fit and helped sort out a new way to organise the layout. They even held onto my old Campervan bed whilst I sold it online and they allowed the buyer to come pick up. All in all a genuine and professional company who I will go back to again without hesitation for my future upgrades.

From start to finish the communication with Sam was excellent, he was very helpful in advising us without being pushy and helping to chose all the different options that we wanted and trust me there was quite a few 😁. The after service has been great too as we were new to campervanning there were quite a few questions and he will always answer your calls or texts. The quality of the workmanship from the guys was excellent and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone thinking of having either a full conversion or just some add ons to their vehicle.
